BUZZING TO PROTECT OUR OCEANS

Buy a Burt’s Bees/Oceans lip balm and Burt’s Bees Canada will make a donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect our rivers, lakes and oceans.

Burt's Bees Canada is excited to announce that we have joined forces with Disneynature who brought us "Earth", for their release of OCEANS, in theatres Earth Day 2010. With every purchase of a Burt's Bees/Oceans Lip Balm, you will be making a meaningful difference by contributing to the protection of our Canadian lands and waters, and the species that depend on them. We will donate a portion of sales from each Burt's Bees/Oceans lip balm to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, which will help to protect places such as Haida Gwaii on the Pacific Coast of BC, Frenchman  River Watershed in SK and the Bay of Fundy on in NB, as well as help fund aquatic research in places like the Great Lakes.  "Everything is connected. It's not just about a river, but rivers. It's not just about rivers, but about the land they flow through and the species they touch. It's not just about where they flow but the oceans they reach.  It's about water and the variety and interconnectedness of life," says John Lounds, President and CEO of the Nature Conservancy of Canada. "With 25% of the world's wetlands in Canada, we are in a position of great opportunity and enormous responsibility."

About Disneynature's OCEANS

Disneynature, the studio that presented the record-breaking film "Earth", brings OCEANS to the big screen on Earth Day, 2010.  Nearly three-quarters of the Earth's surface is covered by water and OCEANS boldly chronicles the mysteries that lie beneath.  Directors Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud dive deep into the very waters that sustain all of mankind-exploring the harsh reality and the amazing creatures that live within.  Featuring spectacular never-before-seen imagery captured by the latest underwater technologies, OCEANS offers an unprecedented look beneath the sea in a powerful motion picture that unfolds on April 22, 2010.

About NCC

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the country's leading land conservation organization, working to protect our valuable natural areas and the plants and animals they sustain.  Since 1962 NCC and its partners have helped to protect more than 2 million acres (800,000 hectares), coast to coast.  By investing in conservation we are ensuring our natural world remains a home for wildlife, a haven for responsible recreation, and a vital resource that filters the air we breathe and the water we drink. Through strong partnerships NCC works to safeguard our natural areas so that our children and grandchildren will have the chance to enjoy them.
